Apart from
husbands, boyfriends, fiancés, dads and brothers
birthdays and Christmas gifts; we have Fathers' Day too.
Creating a comprehensive list of gift ideas for men is impossible,
but developing inspiration is easier.
Someone, somewhere
must have put together a 'types of men for gift ideas' theory,
it would probably go something like this;
Active Sporting
Men: This man might like a new sports accessory based
on one of his sports. Event days and activity events are
excellent exciting gifts. Ballooning, Gliding, Sports Car
Racing, 4X4 challenge etc. Not forgeting gifts for the golfer.
Non-Active
Sporting Men: This man only watches sports; there is
a variety of gifts from videos and autographed photographs
to tickets to watch games, matches and races. He might like
designer sportswear or his favourite team shirt, jacket
or fleece.
Computer Man:
He's spends a lot of time on his PC or laptop. Do you want
him away from his computer or encourage him to use it more
by buying computer accessories to make online life easier.
If he's based in the home office, how about a Wi Fi (Wireless)
system so that he can come and sit in the same room as you?
If the PC is a feature in the living room, a real-fire or
tropical fish tank screen saver to turn your monitor into
a conversation piece.
Wannabe Computer
Man: He wants to be the above but still finding way
around the computer. There are lots of computer training
courses and guidebooks about learning to use Microsoft products,
and so-called Idiots & Dummy's guides to computers.
Gadget Man:
He wants the latest technology or newest gismo, whether
it is dancing I-pod speaker or singing corkscrew. There
are fun remote controls that will turn any TV on or off,
wherever you are. Great for upsetting friends in pubs!
Couch Potato:
This man wants his worldly goods fairly close to hand. Perhaps
a mini-fridge with plenty of space on top to keep his remote
control, beer glass, bottle opener etc. He might like some
Air freshener to mask the farts or even a bell to summons
his servant. He too likes his videos and may enjoy the BBC
video box sets of his favourite shows.
Socialite
Man: He likes to party, he's always entertaining or
out with the crowd. There are some great gifts out there
such as Wine Glass Charms; little decorative ornaments that
hang from glasses so that each person can identify their
own drink. These gift ideas range from funny and gimmicky
to tasteful classy gifts for the entertainer.
Nostalgic
Man: Nostalgia is a great conversation topic and the
shops abound with books, videos and reproduction items.
We can divide nostalgia into various areas or even times.
War time, steam age, the 50's, 60's, 70's etc. Old photos
of villages, towns and villages are great gift items.
Wine Buff:
From the social wine drinker to the wine connoisseur, gifts
are endless. if he hasn't got them all already! There are
share certificates in vineyards so he can own his own part
of a vineyard in France.
Vanity Man:
He likes to groom and preen. He might like male cosmetics,
designer aftershaves, and anti-age cream for men, top quality
shampoo and soaps. There are nose hair trimmers and other
grooming accessories.
The Puzzler: Crosswords, Sodoku and other logic puzzles
come in tradition print format but also electronic games.
